Dr. Razaq Femi Quadri

The Polytechnic LibrarianBorn in Ibadan almost five (5) decades ago, a native of Ikare Akoko in Akoko North East of Ondo State of Nigeria, Dr. R.F. Quadri started his education at Abadina Primary School, University of Ibadan. Had his Secondary Education at Islamic High School, Ibadan and Commonwealth College, Ilesa between.   He also obtained a Diploma in Librarianship with Credit from the University of Ibadan in 1986 and later preceded for a Bachelor of Education Degree in Adult Education with Economics and Graduated with Honours in 1989 from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Ibadan.  He observed his National Youth Service Corps Scheme in Anambra State between 1989 and 1990 and completed it with the NYSC Special Award for Distinguished Service. In 1994, Dr. Quadri obtained his Master of Library Studies with Ph.D. grade from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1994. as well as a Diploma in Management Information System from Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo in the year 2002. He crowned his academic success with a Doctoral Degree in January 2010.

A seasoned Librarian and a distinguished academic Dr. Quadri has authored co-authored or edited not less than nine (9) Published Academic Books; has ten (10) Chapter contributions in Published Books and about thirty two (32) Published Journal Articles.  He also has to his credit Indexes to about thirty four (34) Published Academic Books to date.

In the area of work experience, Dr. Quadri began his career in Librarianship at the University of Ibadan Library where he worked as a Library Assistant in the various sections of the library including Circulation, Reference, Acquisition, Gifts and Exchanges. During his Youth Service period, he worked as the Community Development Coordinator of the Mass Literacy Programme, Ememe Zone in Enugu State and established the Emelda Eze Library. Between 1991 and 1993, Dr. Quadri worked as the Librarian of the Federal Government Girls’ College, Oyo where he coordinated, organized and managed the School’s Library programmes and facilities. Dr. Quadri joined the service of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo in 1993 as Librarian where he rose to the position of Deputy College Librarian. Dr. Quadri later joined the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State as the College Librarian, from the 1st of June 2010 to the 31st of January,2014.

Dr. Quadri is currently the Polytechnic Librarian, Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State the position he assumed since the 1st of February, 2014

It is worthy of note to state that Dr. Femi Quadri had served in various aspects of community services outside his current status. Some of these include membership of some important Committees at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo including Staff School Management Committee (1996 – 2000), College Sports Committee (1994 – 2001, 2004 and 2006-2010), Manager/Secretary Bookshop Management Committee (1998 – 2003), Honorary Football Coach of the College (2000-2010), Chairman, Examination Committee of the College Konsult (2000-2004) and College Hostel A Warden (1998 – 2004), to mention but a few.  Since 2003-2010 he was the Divisional Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Society.

 He is currently the National Treasurer of Polytechnic Librarians. He also served as a Council Member of Nigerian Library Association, as the Chairman Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Library Association and now kwara state Chairman of the Nigeria Library Association – his prestigious professional body. Dr. Quadri has also been the Staff Adviser of the Man O War of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.

Dr. Femi Quadri held sway as the national Chairman of the Colleges of Education Staff Sports Association of Nigeria (CESSAN) from 2001 till 2007 and contributed a lot to the development of the Association. In fact, he gave the Association the sound footing it has currently by ensuring the dream of its founding fathers (including his good self) became a reality. He is still part and parcel of the Association judging by its ever-ready enthusiasm to all that concerns the Association not only as an Ex-Officio Member 1 of the Association. At the Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku he is a Principal Officer of the College, a member of the Local Organizing Committee of NICEGA, Chairman, The College Consultancy Committee and Chairman of the College Consultancy Committee. At the Federal Polytechnic Offa he is the Chairman Publication Committee, Research Committee and Project Monitoring Committee. He is happily married with children to his better half Olori Dr.Olohirere Ketim Quadri a Chief Lecturer of the Department of Adult and Non-formal Education, Federal College of Education {Special} Oyo and the Principal of the SPED International School. Happily married with children.
